Marilou Diaz-Abaya
Marilou Diaz-Abaya was a prominent Filipino filmmaker and educator, known for her significant contributions to Philippine cinema. Born on February 2, 1955, she directed several acclaimed films that often explored social issues, culture, and women's rights. Her works, such as Muro-Ami and Bagong Buwan, received both local and international recognition, showcasing her talent and commitment to storytelling.
In addition to her filmmaking career, Diaz-Abaya was a dedicated teacher who influenced many aspiring filmmakers.
