Marie de l'Incarnation
Marie de l'Incarnation was a French nun and missionary born in 1599. She is best known for her role in establishing the first Ursuline convent in New France, now part of Canada. Her work focused on educating Indigenous girls and promoting Christianity among Native populations.
In addition to her missionary efforts, Marie de l'Incarnation was a prolific writer. She documented her experiences and insights in letters and spiritual writings, which provide valuable historical information about early colonial life and the interactions between European settlers and Indigenous peoples. She passed away in 1672.
