Marguerite de Carrouges
Marguerite de Carrouges was a French noblewoman born in the late 14th century. She is best known for her role in a famous legal case in 1386, which was one of the last judicial duels in France. Marguerite was married to Jean de Carrouges, a knight who accused her former suitor, Jacques Le Gris, of raping her.
The case gained significant attention as it highlighted issues of honor, gender, and justice in medieval society. Marguerite's testimony was crucial in the trial, leading to a duel between her husband and Le Gris, which ultimately determined the outcome of the case.
