Manyoshu
Manyoshu is the oldest existing collection of Japanese poetry, compiled in the 8th century during the Nara period. It contains over 4,500 poems, showcasing a variety of themes such as love, nature, and the human experience. The poems are written in Waka style, which consists of 31 syllables arranged in a specific pattern.
The Manyoshu is significant not only for its literary value but also for its historical insights into early Japanese society and culture. It features works from various poets, including Kakinomoto no Hitomaro, and reflects the emotions and thoughts of people from different social classes during that time.
