Mammoths were large, elephant-like creatures that roamed the Earth during the last Ice Age. They were covered in thick fur to keep warm in cold climates and had long, curved tusks that could reach up to 15 feet. These magnificent animals primarily lived in the northern parts of the world, including areas that are now part of Siberia and Alaska.
Mammoths were herbivores, feeding on grasses, shrubs, and other vegetation. They traveled in herds, which helped protect them from predators like saber-toothed cats. Sadly, mammoths went extinct around 4,000 years ago, likely due to a combination of climate change and hunting by early humans.
