Malurus
Malurus is a genus of small, colorful birds commonly known as fairy-wrens. These birds are native to Australia and New Guinea, and they are known for their vibrant plumage, especially in males during the breeding season. Fairy-wrens typically inhabit open woodlands, grasslands, and scrub areas, where they forage for insects and seeds.
The males of Malurus species often display striking colors to attract females, while females are usually more subdued in color for camouflage. These birds are social and often found in small groups, engaging in complex behaviors such as cooperative breeding, where non-breeding individuals help care for the young.
