Maldivian government
The Maldivian government operates as a presidential republic, where the President serves as both the head of state and government. The government is divided into three branches: the executive, legislative, and judiciary. The President is elected for a five-year term and can serve a maximum of two terms.
The People's Majlis is the legislative body, consisting of 87 members elected by the public. The judiciary is independent and interprets the laws of the country. The Maldives has a multi-party system, allowing various political parties to participate in the democratic process.
