Malay States
The Malay States refer to a group of states located in the Malay Peninsula, primarily in what is now Malaysia. These states include notable regions such as Selangor, Perak, Penang, and Johor. Historically, they were ruled by Malay sultans and were characterized by their rich cultural heritage and trade networks.
During the colonial period, the Malay States came under British influence, leading to the establishment of the Federated Malay States and the Unfederated Malay States. This arrangement allowed for varying degrees of British control while preserving local governance. Today, the Malay States are integral to Malaysia's identity and development.
