Major William Cage is a fictional character from the 2014 science fiction film, Edge of Tomorrow. He is portrayed by actor Tom Cruise and serves as a public affairs officer in the United States Army. Cage is initially inexperienced in combat and is thrust into a time loop, reliving the same day during a war against alien invaders known as Mimics. Throughout the film, Cage undergoes significant character development as he learns to fight and strategize effectively. With the help of Rita Vrataski, a skilled soldier played by Emily Blunt, he gains the skills necessary to confront the alien threat and ultimately seeks to change the course of the war.
