The Major League Baseball Playoffs are a series of elimination rounds that determine the champion of Major League Baseball (MLB). They typically take place in October, following the regular season, and involve the top teams from the American League and National League. The playoffs consist of the Wild Card games, Division Series, League Championship Series, and culminate in the World Series.
Each round is a best-of-five or best-of-seven series, where teams compete to win the majority of games. The winners of the League Championship Series from both leagues face off in the World Series to compete for the championship title.
