Mahavishnu Orchestra
The Mahavishnu Orchestra was a pioneering jazz fusion band formed in 1971 by guitarist John McLaughlin. Known for their complex compositions and virtuosic musicianship, the group blended elements of jazz, rock, and Indian classical music. Their innovative sound featured rapid tempos, intricate rhythms, and improvisational solos.
The original lineup included notable musicians such as Billy Cobham on drums, Jan Hammer on keyboards, Rick Laird on bass, and Jerry Goodman on violin.
