Magnetic Resonance Angiography (MRA) is a special imaging technique that uses magnetic fields and radio waves to create detailed pictures of blood vessels in the body. It helps doctors see how blood flows through arteries and veins, making it easier to diagnose conditions like blockages or aneurysms without needing invasive procedures.
During an MRA, a patient lies inside a large machine called an MRI scanner. The process is painless and typically takes about 30 to 60 minutes. Sometimes, a contrast agent is injected into a vein to enhance the images, providing clearer views of the blood vessels and helping doctors plan appropriate treatments.
