Magars
The Magars are an indigenous ethnic group primarily found in Nepal, particularly in the hilly regions. They are known for their rich cultural heritage, which includes unique traditions, languages, and customs. The Magar people traditionally engage in agriculture, animal husbandry, and various forms of craftsmanship.
Historically, the Magars have played a significant role in the Nepalese military, contributing to the Gurkha regiments. They speak the Magar language, which belongs to the Tibeto-Burman language family. The community celebrates various festivals, with Maghe Sankranti being one of the most important, marking the winter solstice and the start of the harvest season.
