Mae Jemison
Mae Jemison is an American physician and former NASA astronaut, known for being the first African American woman in space. She flew aboard the Space Shuttle Endeavour on September 12, 1992, during the STS-47 mission, where she conducted scientific experiments in microgravity.
Before her spaceflight, Jemison earned a degree in chemical engineering from Stanford University and a medical degree from Cornell University. She has also worked as a general practitioner and participated in medical missions in developing countries, showcasing her commitment to science and humanitarian efforts.
