Madhavadeva
Madhavadeva was a prominent 15th-century saint and philosopher from Assam, India. He is best known for his role in the Vaishnavism movement, which emphasizes devotion to the deity Vishnu. Madhavadeva was a disciple of Srimanta Sankardev, who founded the Ekasarana Dharma, a monotheistic faith that promotes the worship of Krishna.
Madhavadeva contributed significantly to the development of Assamese culture through his literary works, including hymns and plays. He established numerous Namghars (community prayer halls) and spread the teachings of devotion and community service. His influence continues to be felt in the religious and cultural landscape of Assam today.
