Mackenzie Mountains
The Mackenzie Mountains are a mountain range located in the northwestern part of Canada, primarily within the territory of Northwest Territories. They stretch approximately 1,200 kilometers (750 miles) and are known for their rugged terrain, deep valleys, and high peaks. The range is part of the larger Cordillera mountain system and features a variety of ecosystems, including alpine tundra and boreal forests.
These mountains are named after the explorer Alexander Mackenzie, who was the first recorded person to traverse the region in the late 18th century. The Mackenzie Mountains are also home to diverse wildlife, including caribou, grizzly bears, and various bird species, making them an important area for conservation and outdoor activities.
