The MS Herald of Free Enterprise was a roll-on/roll-off ferry that operated between the United Kingdom and mainland Europe. Launched in 1980, it was designed to transport passengers and vehicles efficiently across the English Channel.
On March 6, 1987, the ferry capsized shortly after leaving the port of Zeebrugge, Belgium, resulting in the tragic loss of 193 lives. The disaster highlighted significant safety issues and led to changes in maritime regulations, emphasizing the importance of proper safety protocols for passenger vessels.
