MINOS
MINOS is a particle physics experiment located at the Fermilab facility in the United States. It is designed to study neutrinos, which are tiny, nearly massless particles that interact very weakly with matter. The experiment involves sending a beam of neutrinos from a source to a detector located about 735 kilometers away, allowing scientists to observe how these particles change as they travel.
The primary goal of MINOS is to measure the properties of neutrinos, including their mass and the phenomenon known as neutrino oscillation, where neutrinos switch between different types, or "flavors." This research helps improve our understanding of the fundamental forces of nature and the role of neutrinos in the universe.
