MCI Communications Corporation
MCI Communications Corporation was a major telecommunications company in the United States, founded in 1963. It initially focused on providing long-distance telephone services and became known for its innovative approach to communication technology. MCI played a significant role in the deregulation of the telecommunications industry during the 1980s.
In 1997, MCI merged with WorldCom, a telecommunications company that expanded its services further. However, the company faced financial difficulties and filed for bankruptcy in 2002. Eventually, MCI was acquired by Verizon Communications in 2006, marking the end of its independent operations.
