M8 (Star)
The M8, also known as the Lagoon Nebula, is a large, bright emission nebula located in the constellation Sagittarius. It is approximately 5,000 light-years away from Earth and spans about 100 light-years across. The nebula is a region of active star formation, where new stars are born from the surrounding gas and dust.
Within the M8 nebula, there is a prominent open cluster of stars known as NGC 6530. This cluster contains young, hot stars that illuminate the surrounding gas, creating a stunning visual display. The M8 nebula is a popular target for astronomers and astrophotographers due to its beauty and significance in the study of stellar evolution.
