M105 is a barred spiral galaxy located approximately 35 million light-years away in the constellation Leo. It is part of the Virgo Cluster, which contains many other galaxies. M105 is notable for being one of the few elliptical galaxies in this cluster and is classified as an E0 galaxy, indicating its nearly spherical shape.
Discovered by Heinrich Louis d'Arrest in 1862, M105 is home to a supermassive black hole at its center. The galaxy has a diameter of about 60,000 light-years and contains a mix of older stars, with little new star formation occurring. Its study helps astronomers understand galaxy evolution and dynamics.
