Lymphatic Obstruction
Lymphatic obstruction occurs when the lymphatic system, which helps remove waste and excess fluid from tissues, is blocked. This blockage can be caused by various factors, including infections, tumors, or surgical removal of lymph nodes. As a result, fluid can accumulate in the tissues, leading to swelling, known as lymphedema.
Symptoms of lymphatic obstruction may include swelling in the affected area, discomfort, and an increased risk of infections. Treatment options often involve physical therapy, compression garments, or in some cases, surgery to restore normal lymphatic flow. Early diagnosis and management are essential to prevent complications.
