Lung Sounds
Lung sounds are the noises produced by air moving in and out of the lungs during breathing. Healthcare professionals listen to these sounds using a stethoscope to assess lung health. Common types of lung sounds include wheezes, crackles, and rhonchi, each indicating different respiratory conditions.
Wheezes are high-pitched sounds often associated with asthma or chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). Crackles, resembling popping or bubbling, may indicate fluid in the lungs, often seen in pneumonia or heart failure. Rhonchi are low-pitched sounds that can suggest mucus buildup in the airways, commonly linked to bronchitis.
