The Lunar Roving Vehicle (LRV) is a battery-powered, four-wheeled rover used during the Apollo missions to explore the surface of the Moon. It was designed to carry astronauts and equipment, allowing them to travel greater distances than on foot. The LRV could reach speeds of up to 8 miles per hour and had a range of about 57 miles.
The first LRV was used during the Apollo 15 mission in 1971, followed by Apollo 16 and Apollo 17. Each vehicle was equipped with scientific instruments and tools to assist in lunar exploration. The LRV played a crucial role in expanding our understanding of the Moon's geology and environment.
