Lozi people
The Lozi people are an ethnic group primarily found in the western region of Zambia, particularly in the Barotse Floodplain. They speak the Lozi language, which is part of the Bantu language family. Traditionally, the Lozi are known for their rich cultural heritage, including music, dance, and crafts, which play a significant role in their community life.
Historically, the Lozi people were ruled by a king known as the Litunga, who held significant political and spiritual authority. Their society is organized into clans, and they practice agriculture and fishing as primary means of livelihood. The Lozi also celebrate various festivals that reflect their customs and traditions, fostering a strong sense of community.
