Louis Necker
Louis Necker was a prominent Swiss banker and statesman, born in 1732. He is best known for serving as the Director-General of Finance in France during the late 18th century. Necker played a crucial role in the financial reforms leading up to the French Revolution, advocating for transparency in government finances and the reduction of royal expenditures.
Necker's most notable contribution was his publication of the Compte rendu au roi, which provided a detailed account of France's financial situation. His efforts to address the fiscal crisis and his support for the Third Estate made him a significant figure in the events leading to the revolution. He passed away in 1804.
