Los Katios National Park
Los Katios National Park is located in the northwest of Colombia, near the border with Panama. Established in 1973, it covers approximately 72,000 hectares and is part of the larger Darién region. The park is known for its rich biodiversity, including numerous species of plants, birds, and mammals, some of which are endemic to the area.
The park features a variety of ecosystems, such as tropical rainforests, rivers, and wetlands. It is home to important wildlife, including the endangered Jaguar and the Harpy Eagle. Los Katios is also recognized as a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve, highlighting its ecological significance and the need for conservation efforts.
