Lord FitzRoy Somerset
Lord FitzRoy Somerset, also known as the 1st Baron Raglan, was a British Army officer born on June 30, 1788. He is best known for his role as a commander during the Crimean War, particularly at the Battle of Balaclava and the Battle of Inkerman. His leadership style and decisions during these battles have been subjects of both praise and criticism.
Somerset came from a prominent family and was educated at Eton College and Christ Church, Oxford. He was appointed as the military commander of the British forces in the Crimea in 1854. Lord Raglan died on June 28, 1855, from wounds sustained in battle.
