Lophophorus
Lophophorus is a genus of birds known as pheasants, primarily found in the mountainous regions of Asia. These birds are characterized by their vibrant plumage and distinctive crests. They inhabit dense forests and are often associated with high altitudes, where they forage for seeds, fruits, and insects.
There are several species within the Lophophorus genus, including the Himalayan Monal and the Chinese Monal. These birds are known for their striking colors, which can include iridescent greens, blues, and reds. Due to habitat loss and hunting, some species are considered vulnerable or endangered.
