London government
The government of London is structured into two main parts: the Greater London Authority (GLA) and the 32 borough councils. The GLA consists of the Mayor of London and the London Assembly, which work together to oversee the city's strategic planning, transport, and housing policies. The Mayor is elected every four years and has significant powers to influence various aspects of city life.
Each of the 32 borough councils is responsible for local services such as education, housing, and social services. These councils are elected by residents and work to address community needs while implementing policies set by the GLA. Together, they ensure that London functions effectively and meets the needs of its diverse population.
