Lobsang Rampa
Lobsang Rampa was the pen name of Cyril Henry Hoskin, a British author who gained fame in the 1950s for his books on Tibetan Buddhism and mysticism. He claimed to be a lama from Tibet and wrote several works, including "The Third Eye," which described his supposed experiences and teachings. His writings sparked interest in Eastern spirituality but were also met with skepticism regarding their authenticity.
Despite his claims, investigations revealed that Rampa had never been to Tibet and had fabricated much of his background. His works, while popular, raised questions about cultural appropriation and the accuracy of his representations of Tibetan Buddhism and Tibet.
