Lobar Pneumonia
Lobar pneumonia is a type of lung infection that affects a large and continuous area of one or more lobes of the lungs. It is usually caused by bacteria, most commonly Streptococcus pneumoniae. Symptoms often include a high fever, cough, chest pain, and difficulty breathing.
Diagnosis typically involves a physical examination, chest X-rays, and laboratory tests of sputum. Treatment usually consists of antibiotics to fight the infection, along with supportive care to help relieve symptoms. Most people recover fully with appropriate treatment, although it can be more severe in individuals with weakened immune systems.
