Livonian language
The Livonian language is a Finno-Ugric language that was historically spoken by the Livonian people in Latvia. It is closely related to other languages in the Finno-Ugric family, such as Finnish and Estonian. Livonian has been classified as critically endangered, with very few fluent speakers remaining today.
Efforts to revive the Livonian language have been made through educational programs and cultural initiatives. The Livonian Institute plays a significant role in promoting the language and preserving its heritage. Despite these efforts, the language faces challenges due to its limited use in daily life and the dominance of other languages in the region.
