Liver Bird
The Liver Bird is a mythical creature that serves as a symbol of the city of Liverpool, England. It is often depicted as a cormorant, a type of bird, and is usually shown holding a piece of seaweed in its beak. The Liver Bird is featured prominently on the city's coat of arms and is a well-known emblem of local pride.
There are two Liver Birds that stand atop the Royal Liver Building, one facing the sea and the other facing inland. According to legend, the bird facing the sea watches over sailors, while the one facing the city looks after the people of Liverpool.
