Little Missouri National Grassland
Little Missouri National Grassland is located in western North Dakota and is the largest national grassland in the United States. It covers over 1,000 square miles and features a diverse landscape of rolling hills, open prairies, and rugged badlands. The grassland is home to various wildlife species, including deer, prairie dogs, and numerous bird species.
Established in 1960, Little Missouri National Grassland is managed by the U.S. Forest Service. It offers recreational opportunities such as hiking, camping, and horseback riding. The area is also significant for its rich cultural history, including connections to the Mandan and Hidatsa tribes and the Lewis and Clark Expedition.
