Little Mermaid statue
The Little Mermaid statue is a famous bronze sculpture located in Copenhagen, Denmark. Inspired by the fairy tale written by Hans Christian Andersen, the statue depicts a mermaid sitting on a rock, gazing out at the sea. It was unveiled in 1913 and has since become a popular tourist attraction.
The statue stands about 1.25 meters tall and weighs approximately 175 kilograms. It was created by sculptor Edvard Eriksen and is based on a ballet adaptation of Andersen's story. Over the years, the Little Mermaid has faced vandalism and environmental challenges but remains a beloved symbol of Copenhagen.
