Linnet
The linnet is a small songbird belonging to the finch family, known scientifically as Carduelis cannabina. It is commonly found across Europe and parts of Asia and North Africa. Linnets have a distinctive reddish-brown breast and a slightly forked tail, making them easily recognizable. They typically inhabit open fields, hedgerows, and gardens, where they feed on seeds and insects.
Linnets are social birds, often seen in flocks, especially outside the breeding season. They are known for their melodious songs, which they use to communicate with each other. These birds build their nests in shrubs or trees, laying several eggs that hatch after about two weeks.
