Light Machine Guns
Light machine guns (LMGs) are portable firearms designed to provide sustained fire support for infantry units. They are typically belt-fed and can fire a variety of ammunition types, making them effective for both offensive and defensive operations. LMGs are lighter than their heavier counterparts, allowing soldiers to carry and operate them more easily in the field.
These weapons are often used in a squad-level role, providing suppressive fire to protect advancing troops or to hold defensive positions. Examples of LMGs include the M249 SAW and the Bren gun, which have been utilized by various military forces around the world.
