Light Adaptation
Light adaptation is the process by which our eyes adjust to changes in light levels. When we move from a dark environment to a bright one, the pupil constricts to reduce the amount of light entering the eye. This helps protect the retina and allows us to see more clearly in bright conditions.
During light adaptation, the photoreceptor cells in the retina, specifically cones, become less sensitive to light. This adjustment can take a few minutes, allowing us to perceive colors and details better in well-lit areas. Overall, light adaptation is essential for optimal vision in varying lighting conditions.
