Liga Națională
Liga Națională is the top professional football league in Romania. Established in 1909, it features 16 teams competing annually for the championship title. The league operates on a system of promotion and relegation with Liga a II-a, the second tier of Romanian football.
The season typically runs from August to May, with each team playing 30 matches. The team with the most points at the end of the season is crowned the champion. Additionally, the top teams qualify for European competitions, such as the UEFA Champions League and the UEFA Europa League.
