Libertarian Paternalism
Libertarian Paternalism is a concept that combines elements of libertarianism and behavioral economics. It suggests that it is possible to influence people's choices in a way that improves their well-being while still preserving their freedom to choose. This approach aims to guide individuals toward better decisions without restricting their options.
The idea is often implemented through "nudges," which are subtle changes in the way choices are presented. For example, placing healthier food options at eye level in a cafeteria encourages better eating habits without eliminating less healthy choices. This method respects individual autonomy while promoting beneficial behaviors.
