Liaison Committee on Medical Education
The Liaison Committee on Medical Education (LCME) is a national accrediting body responsible for evaluating and accrediting medical education programs in the United States and Canada. It ensures that medical schools meet established standards for educational quality, which helps maintain the integrity of medical training.
The LCME is jointly sponsored by the Association of American Medical Colleges (AAMC) and the American Medical Association (AMA). Its accreditation process involves comprehensive reviews, including self-studies and site visits, to assess various aspects of medical education, such as curriculum, faculty qualifications, and student support services.
