Lewy Body Dementia
Lewy Body Dementia (LBD) is a progressive brain disorder that affects thinking, movement, and behavior. It is characterized by the presence of abnormal protein deposits called Lewy bodies in the brain, which disrupt normal brain function. Symptoms often include visual hallucinations, fluctuating attention, and difficulties with movement similar to Parkinson's disease.
LBD can be challenging to diagnose because its symptoms overlap with other forms of dementia, such as Alzheimer's disease. Treatment typically focuses on managing symptoms, which may include medications for cognitive and movement issues, as well as support for emotional and behavioral changes.
