Lesser Yellowlegs
The Lesser Yellowlegs is a medium-sized shorebird found in North America. It has long, thin legs that are bright yellow, a slender body, and a slightly upturned bill. During the breeding season, its plumage is mottled brown and white, which helps it blend into its wetland habitat.
These birds are commonly seen in marshes, mudflats, and along the edges of lakes and rivers. They feed on insects, small crustaceans, and other invertebrates by probing the mud with their bills. The Lesser Yellowlegs migrates south for the winter, often traveling to areas in Central America and the Caribbean.
