Lentivirus
Lentivirus is a type of virus that belongs to the family of retroviruses. It is known for its ability to integrate its genetic material into the host's DNA, allowing it to persist in the host for a long time. Lentiviruses can infect both dividing and non-dividing cells, making them unique among retroviruses.
One of the most studied lentiviruses is the Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV), which causes AIDS. Lentiviruses are also used in research and gene therapy due to their ability to deliver genetic material into cells effectively.
