Legitimate Child
A "Legitimate Child" refers to a child born to parents who are legally married to each other at the time of the child's birth. This status often grants the child certain legal rights, such as inheritance rights and the recognition of parental responsibilities. In many cultures, being a legitimate child can also carry social significance, affecting the child's standing within the family and community.
In contrast, a child born outside of marriage may be referred to as an "illegitimate child." Historically, this distinction has led to social stigma and legal challenges. However, many societies are increasingly recognizing the rights of all children, regardless of their parents' marital status, promoting equality and protection for every child.
