Left-Hand Rule
The "Left-Hand Rule" is a mnemonic used in physics and engineering to determine the direction of force experienced by a current-carrying conductor in a magnetic field. According to this rule, if you align your left hand so that your thumb points in the direction of the current (from positive to negative) and your fingers point in the direction of the magnetic field (from north to south), your palm will face the direction of the force acting on the conductor.
This rule is particularly useful in understanding the behavior of electric motors and generators, where the interaction between electric current and magnetic fields is crucial. It helps visualize how Lorentz force operates, which is the force exerted on a charged particle moving through a magnetic field.
