Lee Morgan
Lee Morgan was an influential American jazz trumpeter, born on July 10, 1938, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He gained prominence in the 1960s and was known for his hard bop style, which combined elements of jazz with blues and rhythm and blues. Morgan's most famous work is the album The Sidewinder, released in 1964, which features one of his signature compositions.
Throughout his career, Morgan collaborated with many notable musicians, including Art Blakey and Wayne Shorter. He was a prolific recording artist, contributing to over 25 albums as a leader and many more as a sideman. Tragically, Morgan's life was cut short when he was shot and killed on February 19, 1972, at the age of 33.
