League of Torgau
The League of Torgau was a military alliance formed in 1632 during the Thirty Years' War. It consisted of several Protestant states in the Holy Roman Empire, including the territories of Saxony, Brandenburg, and Hesse. The league aimed to strengthen their collective military power against the Catholic forces led by the Habsburgs.
The formation of the League was a response to the growing threat posed by the Catholic League, which sought to suppress Protestantism in Europe. The League of Torgau played a significant role in various battles, contributing to the shifting dynamics of the war and the eventual Peace of Westphalia in 1648.
