Law Enforcement in Canada
Law enforcement in Canada is primarily the responsibility of three levels of police: federal, provincial, and municipal. The Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) serves as the federal police force and also provides policing services in many provinces and territories. Each province has its own police forces, while cities and towns typically have local police departments to handle community safety and crime prevention.
In addition to traditional police forces, Indigenous police services operate in some Indigenous communities, focusing on culturally relevant policing. Law enforcement agencies in Canada work collaboratively to address crime, maintain public order, and ensure the safety of all citizens across the country.
